Objectives:
The objective of the Foundation is to promote world-wide progress in glycoscience. In accordance with this objective, the Foundation provides research grants to outstanding proposals for basic and applied studies on glycoconjugate.
Eligibilitiy:
An applicant must
- have a doctor's degree or its equivalent,
- have a documented capability of performing independent studies and
- be a member of a research institution where he or she can carry out the proposed study.
Previous grantees who were awarded more than 5 years ago are eligible.
Application:
We accept applications from July 1st to September 1st (Japan Time) every year.

Selection:
The applications will be reviewed by the selection committee, consisting of specialists in the field of glycoscience.
Number of adopted projects:
We will select 10 to 15 projects.
Period of the grant:
One year from April 1st of the year next to the application till March 31st of the year after.
Selection Outcome:
The outcome will be notified to the applicants by e-mail no later than February 20 of the year next to the application.
Amount of the Grant:
Maximum amount of the grant is JPY7,000,000 for each project.
Payment of the Grant:
The grant will be paid around March of the next year.
Reporting Obligation:
Please submit Progress Report and Financial Report within 2 months after the end of the grant period by e-mail. The abstract of the Progress report will be published in our website. In all the publications resulted from the study, please state that the project was supported by Mizutani Foundation for Glycoscience and submit 2 copies of such publications to the Foundation Office.
Patent Policy:
You and/or your organization will own all intellectual property rights. The Mizutani foundation does not demand any intellectual property rights by the research which received fund from the foundation.
